PROJECTS
Project : 20mph National Default Roll Out
Client: South Wales Trunk Road Agent –
on behalf of The Welsh Government
The Welsh Government voted in the Senedd Cymru to change the default speed limit from 30mph to 20mph on restricted roads and subsequently made a legal change to Welsh statutory instrument.
Wales will be one of the first countries in the world, and the first nation in the UK, to introduce legislation to have a default 20mph speed limit on roads where cars mix with pedestrians and cyclists.
A member of our team is seconded into South Wales Trunk Road Agent working as the project lead to deliver the national roll-out of 20mph in time for the 17th of September 2023.
Our involvement in this project spans beyond our establishment date, our director and founder has been leading on this project since July 2022. The client was extremely satisfied with the level of service they received during this period; they retained our services throughout a relocation to Cyprus.
Our director has played a critical role in managing both the Design and the current Construction Phase of this project on behalf of the client. For full details on how our experience could benefit your organisation please get in contact with us.
Prior to moving to Cyprus, Jack worked with the South Wales Trunk Road Agent. Where he was a key individual discharging client duties during the design phase of the 20mph National roll out across the South of Wales, whilst also delivering multiple other schemes on behalf of the Welsh Government. Jack’s services were retained to complete the project upon starting this new venture in Cyprus, which is testament to his performance. This role was remote with occasional office visits; however, the delivery of this project is proof that Jack has, and continues to provide a high level of service remotely.
Jack also worked as an Assistant Project Manager on the West Cheltenham Transport Improvement Scheme for Atkins, on behalf of Gloucestershire County Council. The scheme has subsequently been shortlisted by the Institue of Civil Engineers for projects that have had the most positive impact on local or regional communities in 2023, under the value of £8million, the winner has yet to be announced. Some of Jack’s responsibilities included site supervision, daily records, and reviewing designs against the current standards and utilising his practical experience to ensure the buildability of the proposed drawings were able to be brought to fruition. This included regular communication and coordination with a design team who were based in India.
